Florida’s Largest Pug Celebration on Nov. 4th

Florida Pugs Bringing Their Families to State’s Largest Pug Celebration!

Kissimmee, FL — Pugs from all across Florida and the southeastern U.S. have packed up their families and are heading to Kissimmee for Pugsgiving 2017. Pugsgiving, Pug Rescue of Florida’s annual celebration of all things pug, is this Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017 from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the Ramada Gateway Convention Center on US-192.

Pug Rescue of Florida (PROoF) holds its annual Pugsgiving event to celebrate its success in rescuing and placing pugs and pug mixes into forever homes. The day-long celebration features games and contests for the dogs, pet-supply vendors, pet spa services, raffles, a silent auction and more. It also is a major fund-raiser event for PROoF.

“One of our big draws is the Pugkin Patch,” Krista Allen Lepp, Pugsgiving chairwoman, said. “People interested in adopting a pug can meet many of our available fosters. It gives the dogs and humans a chance to play for a while and get to know each other. While we don’t do on-site adoptions, the Pugkin Patch always results in a lot of new adoption applications.”

PROoF is a de-centralized rescue organization that provides rescued pugs and pug mixes with foster homes and vet care while they wait for adoption. PROoF volunteers work with potential “furever” families to make sure the adoption is a good situation for dog and humans.

One of the new focus areas for PROoF this year is hospice care for senior pugs.

“It’s hard to get people to adopt a pug knowing it may only have a few years left, especially when it has potentially expensive medical issues,” Lepp said. “We are working to set up a hospice care fund that will help defray senior rescues’ medical costs, and reduce the burden on our foster families of caring for these special pugs.”

All leashed, behaved dogs who are up-to-date on vaccinations are welcome at Pugsgiving. Humans need to purchase tickets: $5 per adult, children 12 and under are free.
