How to Rock Being a Dog Mom

Being 35 and married, I often get asked when we are going to have children. To an extent I understand why people ask. I used to get upset and wish people would mind their own business, but now I just smile and say, “I have two fur kids”. You should see the looks I get!

I am a dog mom. My dogs are my kids. Considering myself a dog mom doesn’t mean that I want to mimic being a human mom, it just means that my heart desires to give my rescue dogs a better life than they previously had. Just because I didn’t give birth to my dogs, doesn’t mean that some maternal feelings don’t kick in every now and again. I mean, how can you look at these two faces and not want to rock being a dog mom?

“Calling yourself a dog mom or dad is shorthand attempt to pin down feelings that are hard to describe. There’s a complex magic in the relationship between dogs and their people, and when I call myself a dog mom, I’m trying to distill the depth of those emotions into a single word that everyone understands.” -Victoria Schade

So, if you are a dog mom, how do you rock it? Well, if you are reading this article, you are already a rockin’ dog mom. So keep doing what you are doing! However, if you want to step up your dog mom game, here are some tips on how to do just that.

1. Give them a gift that keeps on giving. You probably have heard of this before, but it is seriously the best thing I have ever gotten for Pookie and Thor. BarkBox, is a monthly subscription box that comes specifically for your furry friend. There are themed treats and toys each month that your dog is sure to LOVE. The coolest thing about it, is that you can customize the size box you want depending on the size dog you have. You can even get just one box, or set up a monthly recurring delivery to your house. I know it is the best day ever for Pookie and Thor, and it is sure to be for your pup too. If you use THIS LINK to order your box, you will also be helping me send a box to a needing pup in an animal shelter. Now I call that a rockin’ thing to do.

2. Spice up their food while keeping them healthy. I have recently found these seasonings for dog food. What’s that you say? Seasonings? Yes, I was skeptical at first too. I like to do my research before I commit to anything for my fur babies. Pookie and Thor always get the best of the best. So when I heard about these PawPairings seasoning for dog food, I thought, wow, how fun. Not only are they an added bonus to the same old dog food you give to them everyday, they provide a boost of nutrition with a concentrated source of 8 fruits and vegetables and contains a special vitamin blend. So naturally I wanted to try them. I ordered a pack of 3, which they actually have for $15 off right now when you use the code 3for30. Now let me say, I have never seen Pookie and Thor eat their food so quickly. They love it! So it will definitely continue to be an addition in our household.
